中部某區域教學醫院Elizabethkingia meningoseptica之分布與藥物敏感性分析

The distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility of Elizabethkingia meningoseptica in a regional teaching hospital in central Taiwan

Objective
The E. meningoseptica related nosocomial infections were increasing in recent years. The risk factors of patients suffered from E. meningoseptica related infections were long term broad spectrum antibiotics treatment, mechanical ventilation, immunosuppression therapy, multiple underlying diseases, intensive care unit history and central venous catheterization et cetera.
The aim of this study was to elucidate the distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility of E. meningoseptica in Taichung Tzuchi Hospital.
Materials and Methods:
During Jan of 2015 to Dec of 2018, there were 39823 bacteria culture reporters. By WHONET, we sifted 176 different E. meningoseptica isolation from out these clinical reporters. All the identification and antimicrobial susceptibility tests were performed by VITEK® 2 system with GN ID Card and Gram negative antimicrobial susceptibility testing cards (AST-N276).
Results
Most E. meningoseptica isolates came from intensive care units patients (43.2%), followed by non-ICU patients (39.2%) and RCC patients (17.6%). The resistant percentage of piperacillin/tazobactam, levofloxacin (LVX) and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (SXT) were increasing gradually from 2015 to 2018. All isolates from blood and sputum specimens and those from ICU patients were non-susceptible to piperacillin/tazobactam (TZP) according to the other non-Enterobaccteriaceae breaking points.
Conclusion
These results showed E. meningoseptica related infections could not be overlooked in infection control duties and the treatment would be a challenge due to their multiple drug resistant nature.
